Psalm 100:5 - "For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations."
Last week, our Immanuel team of high school youth and adult leaders traveled northwest for Idaho Servant Adventures at Shoshone Mountain Retreat. The week was filled with service projects varying from leading a day camp, to removing trees and splitting wood, to helping at a feed store, getting a new camp property ready to open and yard work. The projects focused on ministry for those in the Silver Valley community, an area of high poverty and unemployment, with an elderly population and many with special needs and underserved communities. Each morning, we began with devotions around the flag pole before getting ready to head out to serve. Each teen had a job for the worksite from gathering tools, to packing lunches, to taking pictures and introducing the team to the homeowner. Youth led devotions on the worksite, had personal time with God at the camp and each evening ended with campfire devotions and family time. They also had opportunities to enjoy the beauty of the community, from rock climbing, rafting, horseback riding, ziplining and just being outside in the beauty of the northwest.
The theme for the week at Shoshone was "Always" and focused on God's promise to us in Psalm 100:5 - "For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations."
That message resonated throughout the week as teens from Missouri, Washington and Wisconsin served the people of Northern Idaho. They witnessed God's faithfulness as they served, in community with each other, in their travels and as we shared highs and lows and where we saw God working throughout the week. What a beautiful message for each of us as well as we remember those words in the Psalm. God is good. His love endures forever. His faithfulness continues through all generations. What a blessing and joy to know and be assured that God is faithful. He does what He says He will do. As we continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community and beyond, may we share that message of God's goodness, love, faithfulness and mercy.
GOD IS GOOD! All the time. And all the time... GOD IS GOOD.
Please join us on Saturday, August 7 for the 5:00 p.m. service and following as the youth share more about their experience in Idaho.
