Member's Powerbook Personal Identification Number (PIN):

All Christians have been blessed with certain spiritual gifts. Paul tells us in Romans 12:6 that God has given each of us special abilities to do certain things well. We should really focus our lives on using our blessings – our spiritual gifts, talents, time and treasure - to the best of our abilities. The entire church will grow when we use the gifts that God has given us.

In this section, you will have an opportunity to analyze your own unique talents and spiritual gifts. As you begin to take your spiritual gifts assessment, there are four basic steps that you should be aware of, if you are to definitely discover your spiritual gifts. You must:

    1. Be a Christian.
    2. Believe that you have certain spiritual gifts.
    3. Be willing to serve your church and your Lord.
    4. Pray for guidance and direction in your discipling process.
As you discover what your special gifts are, you will also see how you are equipped to do the Lord’s will in your life. You will be in a position to build up the church, the body of Christ, so that it becomes healthy and strong, as God enables you to build your own spiritual strength and your relationship with Him so you become spiritually mature, healthy and strong.

The questions in the assessment do not represent a test with right or wrong answers. It is a method of analyzing your strengths and identifying your individual spiritual gifts and your strongest talents.

Each statement in the assessment has five response spaces following it. The spaces are labeled in such a way as to identify your unique spiritual gifts and to rank your talents. Some statements may seem unusual in light of the available responses that you can make to them. They are designed that way in order to obtain a meaningful conclusion in the final summary. As you read each statement, you should reflect on it for a moment and then check the appropriate response, using your best judgment.

In your response to the following statements, there are two questions you should ask yourself:

    1. The primary question is, “How much would I ENJOY or have I ENJOYED doing this activity in a work, personal, family or church situation – to carry out God’s message of love?”
    2. The secondary question is, “If I have previously experienced doing this activity or something similar, how much did I enjoy it?”
You may exit and return to this assessment at any time. Please save your answers before exiting by selecting the Save/Exit button at bottom.

Spiritual Gifts and Talents Assessment
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Your Top 5 Spiritual Gift Cluster
RankGift Name

Pause to Reflect on Your Gift Cluster

Pause to reflect on the tentative gift cluster you have established through the spiritual gifts inventory. Christian author C. Peter Wagner suggests we use of the five “E’s”:

1. EXPLORE the possibilities of gifts.
2. EXPERIMENT with as many as you can.
3. EXAMINE your feelings as you use your gifts.
4. EVALUATE how effective you are.
5. EXPECT confirmation from those with whom you serve and whom you serve with.

At Immanuel Lutheran Church, we would like to offer you the following guidelines to use as you strive towards discovering what your true gifts are:

  • Make a commitment to the body of Christ and to this local church of believers.
  • Analyze and pray about your own gift mix.
  • Pray for God’s guidance and direction as you continue your walk with Christ.
  • Consider the results as you use your gifts/talents, and grow in your knowledge of gifts and their meaning for you.
  • Plug into Bible study, service and fellowship by going through the Interest Finder for the spiritual gifts assessment at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
  • Follow through with active involvement in the six areas of discipleship.
  • Discover how you feel as you serve in various gifts ministry areas.
  • Discover how others view you as you use your spiritual gifts.
  • Witness, study, serve and grow!
It is the prayer of the family of Immanuel Lutheran Church that through careful study of each of these steps, you will achieve a clear definition and conception of your gifts and talents. We further pray that you will continue to grow in your gifts and in your love of Jesus Christ. Immanuel Lutheran Church, a church on the grow and on the go, is your church and we pray that you will continue to be actively involved with your fellow members, friends and family as we worship, have fellowship and serve the Lord together.

We ask that you pray that the Holy Spirit will guide, direct and empower you as you continue to develop and use your talents, treasures and gifts.
